Woot woot! Madeira and Kilchoman! The day has come! As some may know Kilchoman released a bit of a teaser of this release for the 3rd club release in 2014 which was also matured in Madeira casks. This particular batch is comprised of whisky fully matured in 17 first fill Madeira casks. Distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2015, these should be about 4 years old. Young by normal whisky standards but Kilchoman march to their own tune and have been doing it very well.

Red currants, liqueur soaked raisins, lingonberry jam. Cool menthol peat. Black cherries. Deep forest fruits. Hints of dark chocolate.
Rich and deep red fruit sweetness. Like a rich sweet red wine. Herbal and cool menthol peatiness. Definite madeira influence. That sweet wine richness like raisins and treacle.
Cooling peat and cloying sweet wine. Long lasting and refreshing. Blackberries, dried cranberries, dried blueberries, lots of berries!
An excellent dram. Deep and sophisticated yet bold and lively. Brooding in it’s darkness and yet also so sprightly. Truly a complex dram and most likely worth your while. Worth mine anyway. AliceInWhiskyland couldn’t stop going for more of this one.
Raisins, sweet Chrsitmas cake in cream. hints of roasted nuts. Cinnamon trailing.
Thick sweet molasses hits the palate first moving to underlying peat. Sharp and earthy.
Lingering peat, mouth watering. Some spices trailing.
Delicious! Especially as a cold night Christmasy dram. Looking forward to having it this holiday season.
